(1)Select according to the location of the construction earthwork:When the excavation earthwork is above the mechanical shutdown surface,a front shovel excavator can be selected;when the excavation earthwork is below the shutdown surface,a backhoe excavator is generally selected.
(2)Select according to the nature of the soil:When digging underwater or wet soil,a dragline or backhoe excavator should be selected;when digging hard soil or excavating frozen soil,a heavy excavator should be selected;when loading and unloading loose materials,a grab excavator should be used.
(3)Selection based on earthwork transportation distance:For excavation of foundations and trenches that do not require earth to be transported outside,an excavator loader can be selected;for excavation of long-distance trenches,a multi-bucket excavator should be selected;when the earthwork distance is long,a dump truck should be used in conjunction with an excavator to transport the earth,and a model that can reasonably match the capacity of the dump truck and the capacity of the excavator bucket should be selected.
(4)Selection based on earthwork volume:When the earthwork volume is not large and an excavator must be used for construction,a tire excavator or loader with good maneuverability can be selected;for large earthwork projects,a large,dedicated excavator should be selected,and multiple machines should be used for joint construction.
