Precautions for winter storage of small excavators

Release Date:10.17.2023 Views: 150

Winter is coming, and the weather is getting colder. Especially in some colder areas in the north, many projects cannot be carried out due to frozen soil. At this time, small excavators need to be shut down for a long time; but what needs to be paid attention to is: small excavators Parking it outdoors in the cold for a long time will cause considerable damage to the machine itself.

The cold wind is blowing and the snow is falling. The northern region has gradually entered the low temperature weather. Small excavators working outside will be shut down one after another. Long-term parking and winter maintenance are the first things to pay attention to. How to store small excavators for a long time in winter? What are the precautions? What about the matter? Please see the introduction.

1. Coolant: Add anti-rust agent. If the excavator is stored in extremely cold areas, use special antifreeze or completely drain the coolant to prevent freezing; in this case, place a label with "No coolant" written on it.

2. Before the small excavator is stored for a long time, the entire machine needs to be inspected and maintained. Clean the soil contaminated on the fuselage; lubricate all parts of the machine; repair damaged parts. So that the machine can maintain the best condition when it is restarted.

3. Battery: After the battery is fully charged, remove the battery and store it in a dry and safe place. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

4. Lubrication work: If the metal surface loses the oil film, it will begin to rust; when the machine starts to work again, it may cause abnormal wear and tear of the machine.

5. Add lubricating oil/grease: Check the lubricating oil level and degree of contamination. It should be replenished or replaced if necessary. Lubricate all lubrication points; grease exposed metal surfaces that may rust. (such as hydraulic cylinder rod, etc.).

6. When parking, retract the exposed oil cylinder as much as possible to prevent collisions with foreign objects and corrosion of the oil cylinder in wet rain and snow weather, which may cause damage or rust. If the space is limited and the cylinder cannot be completely retracted, you can apply a layer of butter on the surface of the exposed cylinder piston rod to prevent rust. (Warm reminder: When the viscosity of butter is too high and it is difficult to apply, you can use hydraulic oil and butter to dilute it, so that it is very convenient to apply.)

7. If the small excavator needs to be stored for too long, the engine should be started every half a month and the machine should be operated to build a new oil film on the lubricating parts of each machine part to prevent rust and at the same time charge the battery.
